One of many flowers on the orchid that we were kindly given for our new house. I have been meaning to get the camera out and take some shots of these beautiful flowers in the sunlight for a week or so now. Today I finally did it.

Sunrise on January 2nd, from the balcony of our new house. A few moments before this it was perhaps nicer (I had to run to find the camera and missed that part), but this is the moment when the whole sky seemed to be burning.
A small version of the famous little tank engine. This one is a cake decoration. The stud you can see below it kept it on the little track that came with it; on the far side is a clockwork mechanism winder to make it move around the track. How cool is that!
A while back I received a Flickr email (why, oh why did they create another email system?) from Schmap Guides asking whether I would mind them shortlisting five of my photos from Maui for inclusion in their Maui and Molokai travel guide. As with most people who ask, I agreed and thought nothing more of it.
The other day I received another email saying that the five photos had been included in the guide and it had been published. You can download it from the box above (for Windows 2000 and Windows XP only at the moment sadly, though they promise a Mac version is coming early next year).

These 3D replicas of Robert Indiana‘s iconic Love image can be found in a number of cities around the world.
Taken at the weekend during our Sunday trek from the ferry building to the bridge and back. The bridge was still under a haze (as was most of the bay area), but I liked how it reflected in the small pool that is in the wildlife reserve section of Crissy Fields.
On the way from Honolulu to Hanauma Bay (back in December 2004) we saw this rainbow over Hawaii Kai. This is another photo from my archives – I’ve made it to the end of 2004 now.
A sunset over the sheep at Ashdown Forest in south east England. This is the forest where the Winnie-the-Pooh stories are set, and there are many of the places from the stories marked around the area, such as the bridge where Christopher Robin, Pooh and his friends played Pooh Sticks.
