I’ve liked this particular photo ever since I took on a business trip to Taipei, Taiwan. It was just getting dark, and it had been raining most of the day so the lights were reflecting off the wet roads.

The long exposure makes the cars seem like just a blur as they move through the frame which contrasts so well with the stationary pedestrian.

Stepney appeared in a Thomas the Tank Engine story to promote Bluebell Railway. We saw Stepney at Bluebell during a visit home a few years back.

Another old photo, this one from our visit to Mount Diablo in August 2001. After stopping at the summit, we drove back down to walk some of the lower trails. Our return journey was when we saw this tarantula spider crossing the trail ahead of us. As we got close it stopped and posed for some photos, then continued on its way.

A light dusting of snow covers the trees and the road between Colemans Hatch and Wych Cross in East Sussex. This is where I grew up. On the left side just ahead is the lane leading to the village cricket pitch; on the right opposite it an unpaved track down to a house buried deep in the forest, and behind that the 9th hole of the Ashdown Hotel golf course.

Perhaps not as iconic as its nearby neighbour, the Sydney Opera House, the Harbour Bridge is still an impressive structure. We didn’t climb it during our short visit to Sydney back in early 2002 – perhaps the next time we visit we will.

Here is another shot, also from Maui, of the red hearted yellow hibiscus flower that is fairly common on the island.

Today’s hibiscus is a beautiful white one, again from Maui.

Another shot from Maui; this was outside our hotel (which is now gone, to be replaced by a new timeshare resort). These were also much larger flowers than the reds and yellows that are all over the Hawaiian islands.

A mostly yellow hibiscus, with a red heart. This shot was taken in Maui during our visit there for last years Maui Marathon. These ones and the red ones were probably the most common types we saw.
